Medisight and our partner facilities have deployed branded IBM and HP/ Compaq running Win2K and Windows XP. The structured LAN is segmented using layer-3 switchs of Cisco.

Dual combinable 256Kbps International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) provide 512Kbps between India and US, scalable up to 2-Mbps at short notice. The connectivity is split across two carriers to provide diversity. The last mile at US end is via multiple providers, including MCI. Medisight uses this structure to enable the capability to connect to the Clients network at any critical stage.

Medisight connects to their clients' network through secured "VPN tunnels" across the Internet, to both receive and send data. This is an encrypted channel from the point of originating till it reaches the access point, and vice versa. Local internet access is also through diverse providers and paths, and is balanced across Mumbai and Chennai.

In addition to the diversity and redundancy built in for the WAN, a combination of methods are used to ensure extremely high uptime and availability of all computing systems, including RAID, equipment duplication, onsite parts sparing & support personnel, and secondary maintenance procedures. A mix of DDS-3 DAT tapes and CD backups are used daily on rotation basis, and also stored offsite as per policy.
